Budget Review Meeting
There will be a budget review meeting this afternoon, October 22 at 4:00 pm.  The congregation is invited to this meeting and encouraged to ask any questions about the 2018 budget that will be voted on at the November 19, 2018 Voters Assembly.  This year there will be ice cream and toppings served after the meeting.  There are copies of the budget available on the table in the narthex.

SS Kids Sing
The Sunday School children will be singing in church on Sunday, Oct 29th.  Please have your child in church that day!

Don’t Forget Trunk or Treat
The board of education is canceling their harvest party and instead encouraging people to attend the Little Lambs Preschool trunk or treat on Halloween from 3:30pm-4:30pm.  Hope to see some cute little costumes there!  The congregation is encouraged to park in the church parking lot and pass out candy to the preschoolers who attend the party.  Feel free to dress up in your favorite costume!

Thanksgiving Decorations
The altar guild is requesting any fall harvest items that will be used to decorate the sanctuary for Thanksgiving.  Some things that have been donated in the past are pumpkins, gourds, potatoes, fall flowers, hay bales, apples, etc. but please don’t bring in corn stalks.  Donations of money are useful also.  Decorating will be November 11 so please have your items here by that date.  Thank you!

LWML Bake Sale
LWML will hold their annual bake sale on Sunday, November 5.  Funds raised will go to Trinity First School in Minneapolis and other charities we support.

Reformation 500 Celebration
“Join us in celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The focal event for Reformation 500 is a festival worship service in the Gangelhoff Center at Concordia University, St. Paul on Sunday, Oct. 29, featuring LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison, drama, music, and dance.”  If any Trinity members would like to go to this event, plan to meet at Trinity at 1:00pm to leave in time to find parking, view the art work and other things going on and then be at the worship service at 4:00pm.  We will return to church after the service is done.  Sign up on the bulletin board.

Northfield Women’s Center Banquet
The Northfield Women’s Center is holding a banquet to celebrate and raise funds for their ministry.  It is a pro-life, Christian ministry here in Northfield aimed at helping women and families.  The banquet is on Oct. 26th at St. Olaf, starting at 6:15pm.  If you want to attend the banquet talk to DCE Jackie to reserve a spot at our Trinity table.  More information about the banquet can be found on the poster in the hall.

All Saints’ Day
November 1st is All Saints’ Day, when we give thanks to God for all those who have died confessing Jesus as their Savior.  We will celebrate this festival on the following Sunday, November 5th.  As part of the service, we will read the names of those members of Trinity who fell asleep in Jesus since the last All Saints’ Sunday.  If you would like the name of a friend or loved one who died in the Christian faith, please contact the church office.

Substitute Needed
The preschool is looking for a part-time substitute to help cover teacher absences.  If anyone is interested please contact the church office or Teacher Tawna (507) 649-1826.

Attention Travelers
If you leave MN for the winter, could you please let the church office know so that we can make sure we have your winter address?  I have talked to a few members but may have not have asked everyone.  Thank you, Dana

All Saints Celebration
In celebration of all the saints that have gone before us, we are doing a special project to remember them.  In the fellowship hall there will be stars of various colors.  Write the name of someone who died in the faith on the star.  This can be a friend, relative, or a historical figure you admire.  The only requirement is that they were a Christian at their death.  Look for the stars displayed on All Saints Sunday, November 5th.

500th Reformation Anniversary
As the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation continues Trinity is studying Luther’s Small Catechism in its Sunday morning Bible class. Luther himself daily read, studied, and meditated on the Catechism to grow in his knowledge of the Christian faith. His words encourage us to do the same that we would be drawn closer to Christ, that our faith would be strengthened, and that we would learn more of God’s Word as summarized in the Catechism.

“As for myself, let me say that I, too am a doctor and a preacher-yes, and as learned and experienced as any…Yet I do as a child who is being taught the Catechism. Every morning, and whenever else I have the time, I read and recite word for word the Lord’s Prayer, the Ten Commandments, the Creed, the Psalms, etc. I must still read and study the Catechism daily, yet I cannot master it as I wish, but must remain a child and pupil of the Catechism, and I do it gladly…it is highly profitable and fruitful daily to read it and make it the subject of meditation and conversation. In such reading, conversation, and meditation the Holy Spirit is present and bestows ever new and greater light and fervor [to our faith].”  [Large Catechism, Long Preface, 7-8]

Voters Packet Deadline
Please keep in mind that anything that needs to be included in the November 19 Voters’ Packet will need to be to the office by November 7, 2017.
